Jesus said, Matthew 5:13 (ESV)- 13 " You are the salt of the earth, but if
salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer
good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.
Salt gets its value by being different from where it is added and by preserving and giving flavor.
In the ancient world, it was produced as a combination of dried minerals that included sodium chloride;
the sodium chloride could be leached out by water so that the remaining compound had "lost its saltiness."
It was then thrown on roads, and even today sometimes on rooftops, where it would harden the surface.
To accomplish its purpose, salt must maintain its distinctiveness, and it must be deployed.
If we as Christ's disciples do not maintain our distinctiveness, we will not preserve our society from corruption,
and we will not make people thirsty for the living water of knowing the good news of Jesus Christ.
We also have to "go to get out of this saltshaker."
YOU are the salt of the earth.
In Jesus we love, connect, grow

The numbers for the shoeboxes are in. We had a total of 10,599,907.
How exciting is it that so many children will hear about Jesus this year.
It's amazing! I'm so overwhelmed with all that the people who contributed boxes this year.
I still don't have the total numbers for Mid Texas, but should have them soon.
After this week's conference I will have the calendar out for the year, be looking out for any updates,
for craft days and other dates. We have also earned tickets to Silver Dollar City in Branson for this year.
If you are interested in taking a vacation and going down there please let Cathy Scribner know at cscribner67@gmail.com.
We have also started collecting items for this year's boxes. Some of the things we always need are toothbrushes and washcloths.
This year we will need soap, like ivory. Please help us get a good start for the year.
